Bonus Episode: Writing Joy's Story for Television,Ā with Producer and Screenwriter Todd Komarnicki.
Hello, my Friends,
I am writing to you from above the clouds on the way home from the U. K.
Two years ago I traveled to London and Oxford for research. Each place I visited on that trip, I tried to see the world from Joyās eyes and heart. This time I saw it all through my own eyes and heart. How astonishing it all is.
I revisited a few of what I call āThe Places of Joy.ā It was a quick trip to celebrate the novelās shortlist in the Goldsboro Historical Fiction Category. My intrepid publishing house cohort Bengono from Harper Collins and I visited Oxford and managed to finagle a climb to the top of Magdalen Tower. I have for so long wanted to do such a thing, and let me tell you ā it sounds more romantic than it is. But worth it even in the high winds, sideways rain, and cold. (loads of photos on my Instagram).
Yes, I was a bit worried about the virus, and my hands are raw from the washing and disinfectant gel, but how wonderful it all was to celebrate the love of books, of England, and of Joy and Jack. This, my friends, is love in the time of coronavirus. š
Now to the great news: JUST when we thought we were done with the fascinating Behind the Scenes of Becoming Mrs. Lewis podcast, we have an extra episode where I talk with the producer, screenwriter, and author, Todd Komarnicki about film adaptation.
Adaptation is such an interesting subject and Todd is fascinating! Iāve learned so much from him this last year and even more in this interview. He was the producer for ELF and the screenwriter for SULLY and so many more movies. More importantly, he is developing Mrs. Lewis!
Give it a listen! And donāt forget the paperback with all the extras is out in three weeks!
All Love, always āPatti
