The Richland County Public Library has announced the five authors headlining the inaugural Read Freely Fest at Richland Library Main. The literary festival is set to showcase and celebrate best-selling authors and storytellers from across the country who will engage audiences through their captivating discussions, book signings, and interactive events.
The five featured headliners include:
DeLana R. A. Dameron – Author of Redwood Court, a Reese Book Club pick set to release in February 2024.
Patti Callahan Henry – New York Times bestselling author of Becoming Mrs. Lewis and The Story She Left Behind.
Mike Curato – Author and illustrator of Flamer, winner of the 2020 Lambda Literary Award for LGBTQ Young Adult.
Abbott Kahler – New York Times bestselling author of Sin in the Second City and The Ghosts of Eden Park.
Brendan Slocumb – Bestselling author of The Violin Conspiracy and Symphony of Secrets.
Additional authors who will be participating in the event are expected to be released soon.
Library officials say The Read Freely Fest promises an immersive experience that connects readers, writers, and literary enthusiasts in a celebration of stories. The Read Freely Fest will offer something for everyone, whether you’re a lifelong reader, an aspiring writer, or simply looking for a fun, family-friendly event.

Cultural Celebration and Live Entertainment - Read Freely Fest will offer live music, performances, and delicious food.
The mantra for the festival is where stories find good company. Read Freely Fest will take place March 28 through 30 at Richland Library Main, 1431 Assembly Street in Columbia.
