My Dear Readers,
THE PERFECT LOVE SONG — A CHRISTMAS STORY.
I'm not usually an early bird with the Christmas cheer. I don’t decorate until after the turkey is demolished. It’s still close to ninety degrees here and the pumpkins are just appearing but I am making an exception to tell you about THE PERFECT LOVE SONG out in two weeks!!
In addition, our resident transition expert is here to tell us some of the top three things we can do to transition into fall with grace and intention.
Last but not least— a tribute to two of our beloved Southern authors, book news, interviews, podcasts, and upcoming tour events.
With💕JOY, Patti Callahan Henry
THE PERFECT LOVE SONG
Can one song change a life?
This Christmas story has been close to my heart for over a decade! Last year, I picked it up again and like all stories we delve into a decade later, it was a different tale to me. I wanted to expand, deepen and add to it. So that is what I’ve done!
Now the novella is an expanded edition with bonus content and new scenes. It was a great thrill to enter back into the lives of Jimmy and Jack, and their music. It was a joy to again discover Kara and Charlotte, and to immerse myself in the romance and mystery of the Claddagh Myth of Ireland.
Join me on a journey of music, lost love, myth, and a Christmas miracle or two that will lead our characters to the love they were meant to find.
Coming October 8, 2019
A perfect gift 🧧 for the upcoming holidays. 🎁
Available in e-book, hardcover, audiobook, and audio CD formats.

Fall 🍂 is here!
Even if the weather doesn’t tell us so — and our resident transition expert Meagan Rock (who just so happens to be my daughter) is here to tell us the top three things we can do to transition into fall with grace and intention.
The autumn is our season of great transition —we are moving from that Summer energy which is quite extroverted, creative, and collaborative, into an energy that at times may feel undeniably introverted, reflective, and soft. Day by day, colder breeze by colder breeze, we may begin to feel our thoughts, dreams, and feelings turning inwards with a great need to rest and just Be with ourselves and our most intimate families and communities. The seasons reflect our lives, and our lives reflect the seasons; on no day are we the same. So as with any transition in time, this is a wonderful space to honor our cyclical nature —to sink into a remembrance of the purposeful power in our cyclicality.
This is a time to honor the balancing of the opposites both in Nature and within ourselves. Find simple comfort and ease in remembering that it is okay, and necessary, to feel ready to dive introspectively rather than expend so much effort externally. Here are a few sweet ways to do so::
1. Weekly candle ritual:: 🕯 Each Sunday night, light a candle in honor of our ebb and flow alongside the natural world. This is a gentle way to have a moment with yourself or with your family, to be still, breathe, and be grateful. During this act, give big thanks for the support, beauty, and love in your life. Whatever comes t mind, bring it forth and be still in a moment of connection to your cyclicality.
2. Earth offering:: Autumn is our season of Harvest —our ancestors dubbed September's Full Moon as the Harvest Moon, after all! With modern supermarkets and easy access to nearly any food stuff at any time, a ritual to return to honoring true fruits of the season is by creating a little Earth altar or offering of autumnal foods. This could be inside your home, out in the yard or on the deck. Wherever you feel inspired. Just lay out a few staple fall foods from your area (grains, squash, pumpkin, root veg, fig, persimmon . . .you get the idea). Make a mandala of it. Put it minimally in a bowl. Make a candlestick of your weekly candle ritual from an apple. There is no right or wrong way to go about it!
3. Drink nettles:: Nettles are deeply nutritious to us at all times, but especially in the transition into fall and winter. If you don't have access to wild nettle in your area, you can easily find dried nettle online or at your local her shop. Nettles nurture us with the necessary minerals that are taken out of today's water supply. They are high in vitamins A, K, and the B's. They are steeped with essential amino acids. They are energizing without being stimulating and deeply nourishing to the adrenal glands. They aid in relieving anxiety and bring a balm, attentive focus to work. Their magic is known to make hair strong, long, and soft. You can drink nettles in a simple tea, or what I'd suggest is to make an infusion by letting a few tbsp sit in hot water for 4-6 hours —the infusion is much higher in nettle's nutrients than tea will be. Enjoy!
