Things I’ve Loved and Only Two Days Left!

"A world war and a fairy tale collide in the British countryside in 1940 — and Patti Callahan Henry is the perfect novelist to explore how the living are forever changed. The Secret Book of Flora Lea is a treasure: moving, surprising, and deeply evocative of an England that everyday walked the tightrope between heartbreak and hope.” Chris Bohjalian, #1 New York Times Best-selling Author of The Lioness and The Flight Attendant

Dear Friends & Readers,

Next thing you know we’ll be talking about the holidays, so together — ahhhhh — let’s take a breath before that happens. I’m sharing some things I’ve really adored lately, some things that have kept me centered on the good.

Book Giveaway

First up, I adore that my publishing house, Simon & Schuster Atria is hosting a Goodreads giveaway for my upcoming THE SECRET BOOK OF FLORA LEA Only two more days to enter, so try and get one. (ends Oct 19) I am madly in love with these two sisters, Hazel and Flora, and their adventures. Only SIX months until release and of course, you will always be the first to know about everything coming up, including a killer pre-order package (go pre-order now and you’ll get one!).

From the New York Times bestselling author of Becoming Mrs. Lewis & Surviving Savannah comes her latest novel, The Secret Book of Flora Lea. Set outside Oxford in the hamlet of Binsey, to be released on May 2nd, 2023 with Simon & Schuster Atria

Launch Party

Oh, and the launch party – just wait and see what we’ve got in store! A whole Charleston Experience with Friends and Fiction on May 1st, 2023. Put it on your schedules now and details coming soon.

Poem

And I deeply love this poem. When I was in Oxford, England over the summer I passed a closed gate and I was curious about it. I walked in and found myself in the enchanted land of an old cemetery. Yes, it seemed enchanted. I was late for the seminar I was to attend and sat down next to my friend, Nicole Howe, and said, “I just found the most extraordinary cemetery”, and she smiled because she knew that these ancient places are sublime. I wrote an Instagram post but she wrote this glorious poem and you must read it. It starts, “When I die, rest me in the wild place.” And I know you want to read the rest.

Screen

And you know I love Ireland. And there is a new series, both hilarious and deeply moving, about five Irish sisters and a murder. It’s called Bad Sisters and that’s all I am going to say about it because I know you are going to love it too.

Friends and Fiction

Of course, I love all things Friends and Fiction, and we have so much good coming up! If you have missed some of our past interviews, we keep it all in one place on YouTube. Check out the Upcoming Show Schedule.

And you, I love all of you readers, librarians, booksellers, writers, and friends. For those who have received early copies of The Secret Book of Flora Lea and have posted those glowing reviews, I am honored. And I love meeting you. Click here for constantly updated and upcoming events. With Love

—Patti
